Portable Shrine

Pilgrims, tear jars, halos, votive candles, saints, pregnancy, vessels, hearts, bones, holystones and relics are represented as wearable art and talismans in my portable shrine: Worlds Within. A beautiful 17th century, anatomical woodcut of a woman displaying a fetus in utero led me to explore the miracle of birth, a matter that remains fraught with uncertainty, hope, pain, peril and joy. The central totem of stacked (and mostly wearable) glass elements is Creation Myth, an accumulation of symbols, tokens, sculptures and wearable talismans. Find my #glass at Being Woman, an exhibition of skilled and inspired art from sixteen artists at Diss Cornhall running until May 3rd.
