Introducing Being Woman artist Clare Gaylard @claregaylardglass I sculpt with molten glass in an intense flame to create wearable art. I’m fascinated by the duality of glass as a fragile yet enduring medium. My work inhabits a place between adornment and sculpture, evoking processes of memory, touch, and transformation. As a storyteller, I’m drawn to artefacts, nature and narratives, the expression of drama through wearable ornament. In Being Woman I explore the risk and burden of fertility through charms, amulets, talismans and the emotional resonance of adornment as a wearable archive of experience. I’m a Suffolk-based artist, and have worked primarily with glass for the last two decades. My background includes a BA in silversmithing & jewellery, art teaching, and curating shows for galleries and groups. I create and teach workshops from my Suffolk studio. Opening 8th March 2026 at Mandels Gallery, Norwich.
